First meetings of the Working Groups with the local population in Gran Canaria

After the first meetings held in July 2024 with the local authorities of the two municipalities (San Bartolomé de Tirajana and La Aldea de San Nicolás) in which the LIFE Phoenix action areas in Gran Canaria are located, we are retaking this type of informative meetings, this time with the attendance of residents of both areas.

The main objective of these new meetings has been to inform about the project´s context and objectives, as well as the implementation of Working Groups with the local population, as part of the environmental governance activities foreseen in the project.

The good reception of these first meetings has also led to interesting discussions with the locals, allowing us to learn first-hand about their concerns and to gather suggestions and contributions related to the objectives of the project.

Throughout the entire implementation period, until June 2028, similar meetings are planned to be held on a regular basis, in order to facilitate feedback of information and knowledge between citizens and the LIFE Phoenix technical team.
